An abandoned sugar-works in southern Sweden
The sugar-works at Jordberga in Scania, southermost Sweden, started in 1891. At most Sweden had about 100 sugar-works, but without political
protection in form of customs duty on imported sugar, it had not been possible. 1975 only seven works remained, today one.
Jordberga was closed down in 2000 as one of the last works. The demolition began in August 2008,
one week after our visit. The works was completely torn down in 2009 and only a few small houses now remain
of the industry wich once was a small village in it's golden days.
