This rather small iron ore was discovered in the mid 17th century and was worked during the 18th and 19th centuries. The mining started on the top of the hill. When the excavations reach the same level as the foot of the hill a tunnel was made out of the rock, an adit. This simplifies the transport of ore, miners and water out of the mine. The adit is visible on the picture below. 1875 part of the mine collapsed and the damage was so extensive that the mine had to be closed.
