Note the shadows of upside down trees left of the tiled stove. In the opposite wall, behind the photografer, there is a small hole. Through this hole a reversed image of the trees outside is projekted on the wall. This is a well known phenomenon called Camera obscura, latin for "dark chamber". It is the principle idea of all cameras.
